The Mexican State Boundaries database is a geographic database of Mexican political boundaries derived from the Digital Chart of the World.

The data provide users with information about the geographic location and names of states for regional, national, and international planning applications.

The Mexican State Boundary files were compiled from the Digital Chart of the World and the US Bureau of the Census TIGER/Line Files.

Attributes for the Mexican State Boundary database have been created using a Geographic Information System.

Logical_Consistency_Report:

All node-link and polygon topological relationships are created and verified using computer algorithms. Unique entity identifiers are verified by computer algorithm.

The positional accuracy of each data set varies as described. The border with the United States was compiled from TIGER/Line data with a corresponding positional accuracy of +/- 80m for the contiguous 48 States plus Washington D.C and Hawaii. The Mexican shorelines and internal state boundaries were derived from the Digital Chart of the World at a 1:1,000,000 scale. Thus, all internal political boundaries have a lower accuracy than do the US boundary definitions.
